Where We Eat: Quadrat Restaurant, Palma de Mallorca.

We've finally made it to the newly opened Quadrat Restaurant, located in the SANT FRANCESC HOTEL SINGULAR. Only 5 months old and already stirring up a lot of press. It's time we pop on over for a culinary treat. Everything about this Restaurant is well thought through, the matte charcoal charger plates to mark your place and the dim, romantic lighting set the mood. The Chef and I were on a date, and we were so very excited to say the least. 

We had high expectations of this Restaurant, as many articles have sung it's praises. By the looks of the dishes online, and through other blogs I frequent, I had hoped the flavors & textures matched their creative plating. When dining in a Restaurant, any Restaurant, I don't want special treatment. I don't want the kitchen to fuss on my dishes any more than my neighbors. I want to experience it just as you would, and that is my focus. In turn, I received cold dumplings that were suppose to be warm and without much finesse. Main courses that went beyond the salt mark. A waitress who upon clearing our plates that had hardly been touched, rushed through the process of asking if everything was ok. The attention to detail that I had expected a Restaurant of this status to have, was missing. Should I blame it on the less than perfect weather we are having at the moment?

The Manager did come over in the end of our dining experience and I began to tell him our thoughts. Personally, I think telling someone that your experience was off isn't a bad thing, it's constructive. I want places like this to shine above the rest, and since I live here, I would be the most frequent customer. In a few weeks time I hope to come back to Quadrat and find that finesse I was originally expecting.
